High Throughput Screening (HTS) is widely used in the Pharmaceutical industry. Robotic systems are used to simultaneously assay the biological or biochemical activity of a large number of drug-like compounds in pharmacologically relevant systems. This allows the rapid identification of active compounds which modulate a particular biomolecular pathway. A robotic system carries out liquid handling, detection of the assay readout and data processing under the control of scheduling software.
